Leopard on Foxconn R10-S4? $124.95 - Harbourmaster - 05-05-2009 Newegg has these on sale for $129 with free shipping and to my eye it looks like you should be able to install 10.5 on this. $5 off coupon EMCLRNW53 (expires today) makes it $124.95 Any one, any one.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856119012&Tpk=N82E16856119012 http://www.foxconnchannel.com/en-us/product/Barebones/detail_spec.aspx?ID=en-gb0000013# ![]() Re: Leopard on Foxconn R10-S4? $124.95 - Filliam H. Muffman - 05-05-2009 That is a stupid cheap price if the specs are right. The dual core Atom 330 is supposed to be $45 all by itself. Case, PS, motherboard for $80 is pretty good. Add a 500 GB hard drive and a 2 GB DIMM and you have a 2nd generation Apple TV for $200. Re: Leopard on Foxconn R10-S4? $124.95 - gabester - 05-05-2009 Tempting. But for only $480 more I can buy a new Mac mini that has a smaller footprint, DEFINITELY works with OS X, has gigabit ethernet, an additional USB 2 port, FireWire 800, 2 video ports, integrated 802.11 and bluetooth. If it had digital video output, I think I'd bite anyway as it has the great makings of a media playback PC. g= Re: Leopard on Foxconn R10-S4? $124.95 - AAA - 05-05-2009 single handedly the best laugh I have had all day. only $480 more. Re: Leopard on Foxconn R10-S4? $124.95 - DRR - 05-05-2009 I might be willing to take the plunge but I'd need help with the install. I have both a 500GB SATA and a 2GB DIMM sitting unused. Would I be able to load from a retail disk, like the mini9? Re: Leopard on Foxconn R10-S4? $124.95 - Harbourmaster - 05-05-2009 DRR wrote: that is of course the $64,000 question! From looking at the specs it looks like it should work but my google-fu can't turn up any sign that it's been done yet... Re: Leopard on Foxconn R10-S4? $124.95 - volcs0 - 05-05-2009 I just did some googling - I'm not sure I see any evidence that this would be an easy install. Re: Leopard on Foxconn R10-S4? $124.95 - Filliam H. Muffman - 05-05-2009 I thought about it a little more and came up with a possible reason for the low price. My guess is they are having a blowout sale in anticipation of the Nvidia Ion motherboards coming out. It has a PCI slot, but I could not find a card with a DVI port that is rated for Blu-ray that was less than $52 in a quick search. Re: Leopard on Foxconn R10-S4? $124.95 - Forrest - 05-05-2009 This box is quite a lot larger than an AppleTV - 8.5 x 12.5 inches. By comparison, the AppleTV is 7.7 x 7.7 inches. Re: Leopard on Foxconn R10-S4? $124.95 - volcs0 - 05-05-2009 OK. I bit. $154, including 2gb RAM. I already have a SATA drive laying around. If nothing else, will put http://www.thinkgos.com/index.html on there. |
