In the past I would - but in Atlanta a lot of people carry guns and use them in situations just like those portrayed. It is sort of like road rage - even if I am wronged I usually just let it go and keep it to myself. One time a guy cut me off and turned around a threw a beer bottle at my car. A lot of people are crazy.
I would intervene with the children and would call 911 in all the scenarios.

I can't help myself but get involved. I don't even think. I think I am going to killed in this kind of involvement. I got this from my Dad who was fearless and impulsive.

Yes, absolutely.
Stopped two 24 year old males from raping a 15 year old neighbor girl.
Knocked out an armed robber running out the exit of the local Ralph's market. (Pure reaction), he ran into my roommate walking behind me, I spun around fast to see why my roomie fell, knocked out the guy with my elbow, teeth everywhere.
Prevented a teenage girl from being dragged into a car, not alone on this, two other folks helped.
Have caught several folks shoplifting, turned them in, I have a sixth sense about shoplifters, I was trained how to spot them by the best cop I have ever known.
That was over a thirty year period in Los Angeles county.

BGnR, good for you, man.
I can't say for sure what I'd do as I've never been in a situation like that, but I have confronted neighbors on treating their pets badly, so I have to think I'd do something. I could not just sit there and do nothing. I abhor violence and guns, but if I'm ever on a plane and the baddies are there, I decided on 9.12 that I will be shaking but among the first to line up in front of the pilots' cabin.
BGnR, give us some of those tips on how to spot shoplifters, I'm really interested in hearing about that. PM me if you want, or just put them here.

I've gotten involved more than a few times, but I tend to weigh the consequences more so now that I am married - especially on the freeways here in SoCal.
We live in one of the safest areas there is here, so no real neighborhood problems.
If someone is making a move on a kid or elderly or just preying on the weak, then there is no question I would get involved.
To what degree? Depends on if I have a weapon at hand, which is rare these days.
I am a pretty good sized person, so that does have it's advantages.
