Best HD upgrade for MBP 2.33 - dotman - 05-29-2009 my Mac Book Pro 2.33 needs a HD updgrade. I'd like your opinions on which is the best. Install took less than an hour and was straight forward. There are plenty of free guides out there if you Google for them. FWIW, I went with the Seagate Momentus. I've ordered two quad-interface MacAlly boxes, and am less than thrilled. This first arrived with the FW800 interface apparently DOA. Then the FW400 connection died. The second has the same apparent DOA FW800, but the 400 appears OK for now. I'm taking the second box over to a friend's place to see if his AlMac sees the HD. If so, then it's my Mac. If not, both boxes go back and I've had enough of MacAlly. If they have a problem, back they go. i bought two ide usb/fw enclosures and one esata for a seagater 1 tb drive. i'll report back if i have issues. btw, i think i bought that seagate sata 1 tb that had the firmware issue. I how do i find out if that's true and the best way to upgrade the firmware. i have a pc as well if that helps. dot. |
