UP - no spoilers - vicrock - 05-31-2009

We just got back from seeing UP - lots of kiddies in the audience, but IMO, this is NOT a flick for the very young. There were a few scenes that were probably inappropriate for the under 10 crowd.

For those of us who are dog lovers, LOTS of very funny scenes.

Overall, I thought it was very well done, but really somewhat depressing for me - YMMV

Hence the PG rating.

That is the word on the street. Not the nice, warm kid show. But, Pixar has drifted away from that a long time ago.

Pooh is the best remaining innocent stories going. I love their lack of peril and such.

It definitely does have a bit of a melancholy theme--particularly the first 20 minutes or so, but I took my 6 year old daughter and a 5 1/2 year old boy, and both seemed perfectly fine with the movie.

My concerns are usually with violence or "scary" characters (daughter hates that), but this movie really didn't have any of those moments.

I thought it was a very good movie. However, my six year old son freaked during the "mean dog" times. There actually were some pretty scary parts for young children.
