Wow!!!! The Terminator's cpu is a Mac!!! It's OS is OS9!!!! - Guitarman - 03-26-2006 # When the T-101 is rebooting after destroying the Jeep Cherokee, among other things loaded is a "Quicktime Video Codec". Re: Wow!!!! The Terminator's cpu is a Mac!!! It's OS is OS9!!!! - BigGuynRusty - 03-26-2006 Not the original Terminator, he was an AppleII.: Shots through the Terminator's vision shows a dump of the ROM assembler code for the Apple II operation system. If you own an Apple II, enter at the basic prompt: ] call -151 * p This will give you the terminator view. Other code visible is written in COBOL. Another robot with cool Mac interface.: RoboCop 2 "The point-of-view shots from Robocop include references to MS-DOS, while the point-of-view shots from Robocop 2 feature a Apple MacIntosh-style interface, with a skull instead of the Apple logo." The above quote, I think has a mistake, the POV shots with the Skull and Crossbones were of the Cain Robot, not RoboCop (I think the reference was a general one of the movie itself), I remember before the movie was released in 1990, Apple had them remove the Apple logo. BGnR The above info, plus the stuff GuitarMan posted is from IMDB.com Giving credit where credit is due! Re: Wow!!!! The Terminator's cpu is a Mac!!! It's OS is OS9!!!! - PeterB - 03-26-2006 It gets worse. In T-3, they're still using OS9: "In the third act, The Terminator reboots himself, to rid his system from corruption caused by the T-X. As he does, we can see, in his first-person "Terminator Vision", many items scroll by. These include: "Remote Access", "Sound", "Memory", "Software Update", "QuickTime Player", "Control Strip", "Date and Time", "Multiple Users", "Keychain Access", "Location Manager", "Energy Saver", "Add Application Program", and also "MP3.com". All of these items (with the exception of "MP3.com") are easily recognized components of Apple Macintosh operating systems, most likely Mac OS 9. (See also trivia for The Terminator (1984), in which "Terminator Vision" incorporated assembly code for the Motorola 6502 microprocessor, the CPU for the then-current Apple II computer.)" Taken from here: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0181852/trivia ... sheesh, you'd have thought they'd have upgraded Arnie to X by now. Edit: Whoops, G-man, I actually misread your post as being about the original Terminator movie. It actually applies to T-3 -- though also true of the original film. Pretty amazing, eh? Re: Wow!!!! The Terminator's cpu is a Mac!!! It's OS is OS9!!!! - BigGuynRusty - 03-26-2006 Seacrest is that a reprint (repost)? I know it shows todays date, but I could have sworn I read that somewhere years ago, or at least major chunks of it. BGnR Re: Wow!!!! The Terminator's cpu is a Mac!!! It's OS is OS9!!!! - Greg the dogsitter - 03-27-2006 From an old thread, elsewhere... click for picture Re: Wow!!!! The Terminator's cpu is a Mac!!! It's OS is OS9!!!! - cbelt3 - 03-27-2006 Even in the dystopian future, the artificial intelligences are afraid of Windows viruses and spyware. Hmm- maybe the military SHOULD use Windows. Then that hardware won't get intelligent and try to kill us all. Re: Wow!!!! The Terminator's cpu is a Mac!!! It's OS is OS9!!!! - TheCaber - 03-27-2006 Motorola never made the 6502; they had a competing design, the 6800/6802/6805/6809. The 6502 was initially made by MOS Technologies, then later by Synertek, Rockwell and many others. |
