Mark Buehrle pitches perfect game - Wags - 07-24-2009

His wife Jamie said she was trying not to throw up. Anyhow, congrats to Buehrle and all the MacRes White Sox fans.

Even as a die-hard Cubs fan I can appreciate what he did today. Smile An incredible feat - I even set the DVR to record the rebroadcast of it tonight at 2 or 3AM. Smile

These perfect games and no hitters are so amazing. Everything has to go right. It's also nice to have a little bit of luck on your side!

Nicely written story, too. Congrats all around. And I'm not even a big baseball fan.

I was fortunate to have turned on ESPN just as they cut to it. That catch the guy made in the OF was incredible. Pitcher needs to pony up and buy him a nice dinner (or something far greater). Incredible.

And this is his *second* no-no!!! Is he the oly one to do that?

Sometime back when Mike Mussina was pitching for the Orioles, I saw him pitch either six or seven perfect innings, I can't recall now. It was electrifying once I realized what was happening. I almost cried when the opposing team finally got a hit.

I'm pretty darned jealous of the fans in that stadium today.

I think Nolan Ryan had 6 or 7. (Not google-worthy)

I always think about Harvey Haddix's perfect game...that he lost.

Oops. I'm thinking about no-hitters, not perfect games.
