Canon 100-300mm USM faster focusing refurb lens $250 shipped - pRICE cUBE - 07-24-2009 http://www.adorama.com/CA100300AFR.html?searchinfo=canon+refurbished This model is a MUCH better deal than the 75-300 and 55-250mm lens. Well, minus the image stabilizer in the 55-250 but focuses much faster and quieter with the USM motor. The faster smoother focus is much better for action and moving subjects than the two lenses mentioned before. Re: Canon 100-300mm USM faster focusing refurb lens $250 shipped - pRICE cUBE - 07-24-2009 Here is the 55-200mm $200 for those who cannot bear the though of no IS. http://www.adorama.com/CA55250AFSR.html?searchinfo=canon+refurbished Re: Canon 100-300mm USM faster focusing refurb lens $250 shipped - guod - 07-24-2009 how are your feelings of these lenses compared to Tamron's 18-270 VC or 28-300 VC ? (at least in comparable focal lengths) I'm feeling the *need* for a new lens before heading on vacation next month. Thanks, Doug Re: Canon 100-300mm USM faster focusing refurb lens $250 shipped - pRICE cUBE - 07-24-2009 guod wrote: It comes down to 3 things mainly. The tamrons have VC which is optical stabilizer. Second thing would be cost. Third, a 18-270 would probably mean you won't need to change your lens much. Mash all 3 of those together and see where you get depending on your needs and budget. Re: Canon 100-300mm USM faster focusing refurb lens $250 shipped - decay - 07-25-2009 I'm sort of torn between the two lenses. the 100-300 is a bit heavier, and most reviews emphasize the softness as it approaches 300mm - which is what i'd likely be using it for, the long zoom. and $50 difference is not insignificant for my family & me. Image stabilizer is probably good to have if you aren't used to shooting that long. |
