Sumdex zipper broke. Need new bag for MBP - Buck - 07-31-2009
My 10 year old Sumdex carry case broke, and I need just the right replacement. I usually use a roller bag, but every now and then I prefer a shoulder bag.
Here's my list of features:
-as thin and light as possible
-solid look and feel
-good zipper
-good snug padded 15" MBP fit.
-pocket for charger, accessories.
-pocket for 8.5x11 paper notebook and a few brochures

I see there's a new bag called the Muzetta. Looks like it would be just what you want. They have lots of great bags. I have a Cargo and my wife has a Cozmo. Both of them are great bags, and it's a company that stands behind what they sell.

you must have one maxed out MBP if you need a roller bag for it!
I recommend getting whatever bag you like best plus a padded sleeve for the laptop. I have a black manhattan portage messenger bag and a deuter backpack.

If it's just the pull-tab or the brake and not the teeth, you can get a replacement kit from any decent camping/hiking store and fix the bag you've got.

Most sewing shops can repair the zipper or replace it with a new one. I've fixed many a winter jacket or pair of jeans this way. MUCH cheaper than buying a new bag, especially if the one you have has held up well for 10 years. I guarantee you that whatever POS you buy today won't last as long.

It's the teeth, not the pull tab. The bag is very sorry looking, and my boss is happy I can't use it any more.
The reason for the roller bag is lots of paper, but sometimes I don't need to lug it all, which is why I like a good shoulder bag. I don't much care for nylon bags. Nice leather or "leatherette".
