Old-timers from the "old forum" - DRR - 08-18-2009 I don't mean old age-wise! It just occurred to me that this fall will mark the 12th year anniversary of when I started using the "old forum that needs not be named." It was fall of 1997 and I had just started to switch over to Mac - scored a pretty good deal on a 9600/350. Mainly back then the old forum was a technical, troubleshooting resource. Still very much a community, but much less focused. Eventually I moved over here in the big '05 migration... and so it continues. 12 years... by far my longest membership of any forum I visit regularly. Any other old-timers? Give a shout-out. Re: Old-timers from the "old forum" - Doc - 08-18-2009 Remember back when you didn't have to register to post? What year did that change? I was posting regularly -- anonymously -- for a couple of years before registration was required. Re: Old-timers from the "old forum" - Harbourmaster - 08-18-2009 I started lurking around that time but since I was a noob I didn't post anything untill late 99 or early 2000 IIRC Re: Old-timers from the "old forum" - Kramerica - 08-18-2009 I was over there too, under a different name. Still visit the site often, but rarely the forum. Re: Old-timers from the "old forum" - microchip - 08-18-2009 Would have been 6th grade, so...2002 is when I would have started lurking.. Damn, I'm old. 7 years. Re: Old-timers from the "old forum" - ztirffritz - 08-18-2009 I think that I'm at about 6 or 7 years. edit: I just looked over at Dealmac. My first post was 4/20/04 so I guess it is more like 5 years. Re: Old-timers from the "old forum" - Gareth - 08-18-2009 Oldest post I could find of mine was June '09: "Is there an adapter that lets one use a regular fax machine (i.e. one that isn't multi-function, so it only has telephone jacks) as a printer?" Nobody answered it back then. Anyone want to now? : ) Though I prefer to forget my stupid questions. If only I could remember why I needed to know that. Re: Old-timers from the "old forum" - N-OS X-tasy! - 08-18-2009 I first started posting "over there" in early 1998. Shame that it had to come to an end. Re: Old-timers from the "old forum" - bwicklander - 08-18-2009 Geez went to the old forum and looked up what I commented on - I've started back in 98 too.
