Heart slices..., 64 of 'em according to the cardiologist - Buzz - 08-19-2009

lots of health issues here affecting the old body, and w/ the high blood pressure, out of whack cholesterol readings (primarily good stuff too low, so ratio is bad), poor tolerance for many medications, etc., the cardiologist finally marched me downstairs for a 64 slice heart scan to test for calcium build up. no heart disease to speak of in my direct lineage, but the myriad of health issues the last twenty or so years, caused the docs and family some worry. frankly, since there wasn't much else that could be done, I was content to play the hand I was dealt, as until body transplants are perfected, I don't really have any other options, so why worry. surprised the heck out of Mrs. Buzz and the cardiologist when the test came back with a calcium score of 0. zip, nada, squat, nuttin, none; no calcium, no where in the old ticker. Mrs. Buzz immediately demanded a re-test, but then I reassured her all the nerve damage, old sports injuries, past surgeries, and other neurological problems are taking their toll fast enough that she shouldn't worry about one good test result. while we were there, they did goof the processing of one of the blood tests, so they had to stick me an extra time, but that didn't count, because Mrs. Buzz had gone to the restroom and didn't see it; only the extra band aid after she got back- told her that was it, only one re-do per visit. ahh, the fun of aging...
:-)

...pretty much three or four half gallons in the freezer at all times; not much room for more, we're chocoholics... though I did have my first Coldstone in several months last weekend in San Diego... kinda funny story actually; we had been at the bluffs overlooking the beach at Del Mar, and I thought I saw Tony Hawk walk by, but when the guy and his kid doubled back to look at the squirrels nearby, I realized it wasn't him. later that day, at the fancy new mall, while walking towards Coldstone, Tony Hawk, for real, w/ one of his kids was there, and a few of the local kids hanging out there got a big kick out of it. it'll be another several months till the next Coldstone...

three quick passes thru the machine; first two to accurately set where your heart is, and the third/final pass to do the "slicing"... way too fast to feel anything!

come to think of it, we also usually have an assortment of frozen pizzas in w/ the cream, but not 64 slices worth... Baby Buzz and his nanny are pizzaholics when Mrs. Buzz is out of town; I tend to live on Boar's Head deli sliced cold cuts and cheese sammies when she's away (or leftovers in the fridge whenever available- as Mrs. Buzz is a really good cook)
