Window Sizing / Horizontal Scroll Problem in Control Panel (6.0.8) - lafinfil - 09-23-2009

When I open Control Panel I can not see the full contents of the window on the right and the space
for the horizontal scroll bar is blank so I do not have full access to the various settings.

Also no drag corner on the window so I am unable to resize the window.

I have the center scroll vertical bar so I can move up and down between all the Control Panels.

Any ideas ?

TIA

Almost forgot - Mac SE30 OS 6.0.8 Finder 6.1.8 4MB RAM

Try resizing the display resolution?

Re: Window Sizing / Horizontal Scroll Problem in Control Panel (6.0.8) - lafinfil - 09-23-2009

It's a fixed resolution on the screen - unless I'm forgetting something

All the other windows look OK - It's just control panel

Also if i try to access the control panel for the keyboard I get a system crash

OS 6.0.8 loves ram. Might as well bump it up to 16mb while the 30-pin simms are cheap. In all honesty, I'm not sure. Couldn't you do a bit of mixing and matching with system components at that point? Any funny Radius accelerators or other extensions or extra control panels mucking things up? (did RamDoubler work under 6?)

No extensions or extra control panels installed except Disk Light, which I trashed

Also tried trashing prefs file and restarting to no avail - The CP window is the only one effected.
It just opens smaller for some reason.

I pulled it out of storage to loan to my sister for a display on late 1980's technology so I don't
really want to put any money into it. Not even cheap RAM !

Just an irritation that I should be able to fix

There is no horizontal scroll bar.

There is not supposed to be a drag-corner on the window. It's a fixed-size.

It sounds like you've got a 3rd party CDEV that's made for System 7 loaded in there and it's the wrong size for the window so it's distorting the window's shape. Move all unnecessary CDEVs out of the System Folder.

Re: Window Sizing / Horizontal Scroll Problem in Control Panel (6.0.8) - lafinfil - 09-24-2009

Thanks Doc

The window appears to have a scroll area on the horizontal (bottom) but no button to grab
The type all appears to be the correct size which lead me to believe that the box size is wrong.

There is not a lot on the system, but I'll go through the folder again just to make sure.

Nothing life or death - just an irritation

Did this message come from 1992?

LOL - yeah, something like that.

One of my sisters works in the children's dept of a local library and they are celebrating 20 years in their "new" building.

They are doing displays of what was hot in 1989 - TV, fashion, music, pop culture, toys, technology, etc ...

I'm loaning her my SE/30 for the display and I booted it yesterday for the first time in years.
It has a copy of KidPix on it as well as MS Word (although a later 5.1 version)

If space allows I'm going to let the kids play with KidPix on the machine.

I used to have Kid Pix, Claris Works for Kids on a color classic in the kids room. Replaced by an Blueberry iMac. They just use my iMac 20".
