TOS for eBay auctions -where do you set the time limit for payment? - Psurfer - 09-24-2009 When creating a new auction-style listing, where can I set the terms of sale that states How Many Days a buyer has to send payment? I know I've done it before, but now I do not see the option anywhere, either in creating a listing, or in my seller prefs. Unfortunately I ask because the last sale I had did not have those # of days stated (I didn't see where to fill that in, and assumed it saved a pref from prev listings), and the winning bidder seems to want to take advantage of the fact. He says he's "waiting on a check to clear" (5 days so far), that he will pay me, but will not answer my question of "when?" --and of course ebay Live Help won't connect for me either-- Re: TOS for eBay auctions -where do you set the time limit for payment? - Psurfer - 09-24-2009 Live Help isn't able to connect at all using Firefox; On Safari, it connected right away, and gave me an estimated wait time of a brief 24+ minutes! Re: TOS for eBay auctions -where do you set the time limit for payment? - Gareth - 09-24-2009 I don't think it's an eBay supported feature. Sure, you can write it in anywhere you want (description, payment terms, etc), but since you can't actually do anything (i.e. file an non-paying bidder) for 7 days, I've never really seen the point of stating faster payment terms. If you want to be paid faster, about all you can do it a buy-it-now with immediate payment required. Re: TOS for eBay auctions -where do you set the time limit for payment? - Psurfer - 09-24-2009 Ok, just figured it out- there IS no option, I would just write it in the description or in the Additional Checkout Instruction box. Never mind. Re: TOS for eBay auctions -where do you set the time limit for payment? - Psurfer - 09-24-2009 Yes you're right Gareth, but my foot-dragging high bidder made a big point of how I had no time frame stated in the listing, when I asked him when I could expect to be paid. Seems to be one of those ill-tempered guys I can tell will do nothing but raise my blood pressure if I try to have any more civil correspondence w/him. So I guess I'll give him the usual 7 days, then file the non-paying bidder thing, which will probably infuriate the poor bastard to no end. Re: TOS for eBay auctions -where do you set the time limit for payment? - Grateful11 - 09-25-2009 I recently sold nearly $1000 worth of McIntosh audio equipment to a guy, he bid at the very last second. I sent him totals on 3 pieces, 2 were able to be boxed together. He finally contacted me after 6 days and said he pay within 2 days, he also gave his phone #. 2 days passed and no payment. I called the guy, very nice on the phone, claims to be one the largest McIntosh dealers in the country. He wanted one item shipped directly to the factory so they could service it before he resold it. This time he said he would pay by the end of the next day, once again no payment. I filed a Non-Paying Bidder Alert and heard absolutely nothing for 6 days a I thought finally I'm going to get rid of this clown and relist my items and all of a sudden he pays like 3 hours before I can close the case and give him 3 Non-Paying Biddder strikes, which I believe would have closed his account. We shipped the items today, I fully expect to get negatives from the guy because I think the Non-Paying Bidder thing really ticked him off. I was just fed up with messing with this guy. I took pictures of the entire packaging process as he had specific instructions on how to package the MR85 Tuner, nothing was to touch the front glass period. I enclosed the tuner in a new trash bag and luckily it had 2 aluminum bars, one on each side that I could put "L" shaped styrofoam around and still not touch the glass. I had to do something keep it from sliding and banging into the control knobs and switches. It was shipped a cardboard box rated at 500lbs. strength, double wall. PS: They have 7 days to pay it's a eBay rule. I think I read were you will be able file for non payment on the 4th day and close the case after the 8th day. Not sure when it takes affect. I found the announcement: Faster recourse for unpaid items. A streamlined process will cut the resolution time in half. We are also working on a new automated option that will make the process even more efficient, cut the time to resolution to as little as 8 days and block negative feedback when a seller opens a claim and a buyer doesn't pay. This automated option will be tested in late September and our goal is to gradually make it available to all sellers by the holidays. Re: TOS for eBay auctions -where do you set the time limit for payment? - Speedy - 09-25-2009 Last time I checked it is 30 days to make payment. |
