Does anybody else's dog respond to the new Toyota commercial? - AlphaDog - 09-27-2009
Louie usually ignores TV, even meowing cats, but Toyota has a new commercial, and it gets Lou's attention every time it comes on. He'll even get up from the comfort of his living room couch and head for whatever room has the TV on. In the commercial, the owners of a red Toyota are driving around the neighborhood (in their fuel efficient car), trying to find their dog. The people periodically stick a squeaky toy out the car window and squeeze it, hoping to attract the attention of their dog. Their dog won't fall for it, but Louie does!
I wonder how long it will take before he gets wise? So far he hasn't figured it out, and it's come on about five times over the last couple of days.

Louie normally doesn't respond to what's on TV, either (although I'd hesitate to say it's because he's too smart!), but the sound of that squeaky toy apparently is just too enticing for him to resist. Louie is a very optimistic guy, so I think he keeps hoping it's me, calling him to play. It did come on again a few minutes ago, and he didn't respond this time, so I guess he's either figured it out or given up on me.

Izzy likes nature shows about birds, and when I play my CD of bird calls on the stereo both the cats go slinking around trying to catch the birdie.

I love the Toyota Prius commercials! I'm especially fond of the waterfalls, with people tumbling down.

Yes, one of our dogs goes insane every time a TV show or movie we're watching has a squeaky toy sound. She'll jump up and run around the house looking for it and then go to the place where we keep hers. We have a squeaky toy that we give her occasionally -- she goes crazy nervous excited when we give it to her, so we try to use it sparingly... :jest:

Ours leave their toys lifeless without the squeakers within 5 minutes!
