Does this sound like a bad power supply? - bender - 10-22-2009 and iI have a Mirror Door dual G4 with 10.5.8. I was in the habit of turning off when I go to bed as sleep never worked on this computer. One morning it would not start. Went to Radioshack bought a new battery, held down the reset and then tried to start and it worked. I thought it was fixed but next morning same problem. I was able to get it to start by pulling the powercord, waiting a few minutes and then plugging in and it started. I kept happening every morning, I tried the reset button again still same problem. Since last spring I have been leaving the computer on always. I have been waiting on a new iMac and now that they are out will probably buy one but this has been a great computer f I could turn it on and off would be a good backup and also nice for my kids. I asked at the Apple Store and they told me they would not look at it because of it's age. I assume it's the power supply but it's just a guess. If it is the power supply how hard would it be to find a replacement. Thanks, Bob Re: Does this sound like a bad power supply? - Paul F. - 10-22-2009 Certainly sounds like it COULD be the power supply. Replacements aren't real easy to find... but since Apple did at one time sell a bunch of replacements in an upgrade program, they're not as hard to find as many other models of simillar vintage would be. |
