can i erase a seagate freeagent extreme used on an intel MB for TM to now CCC a G5 ppc? - MacDoxy - 10-22-2009

i have a seagate freeagent extreme that i was using for timemachine backups for a 2.2 c2d MB leopard

i would like to erase it and use it to clone a G5 2.0 dual PPC

is there a certain order (like which machine does the erasing, etc) and does using this drive pose any issues to the clone?

tia

you want to format it with Apple Partition Map so it can boot PPC machines.

i should just plug it into the g5 > disk utility>erase>format with apple partition map
or something like that, yeah?

Choose Partition instead of erase. Than under partition choose options and choose apple partition map.

Make sure you click on the device not the volume (in the left column). Otherwise you won't see the partition tab.
