For anyone who's ever worked with wood or building - tuqqer - 10-23-2009 You gotta see the video on this page about the Japanese saw: http://www.bridgecitytools.com/Products/Jointmaker+Pro/Jointmaker+Pro+R2 Re: For anyone who's ever worked with wood or building - mikebw - 10-23-2009 Pretty cool. Re: For anyone who's ever worked with wood or building - mrlynn - 10-23-2009 Amazing! Not cheap, though. /Mr Lynn Re: For anyone who's ever worked with wood or building - mattkime - 10-23-2009 oooo, cool! Re: For anyone who's ever worked with wood or building - Grateful11 - 10-23-2009 I own about every woodworking tool and piece of machinery that you think of but I've never seen anything like that. The one they're not showing you is the changing of miter backing board for pushing the the wood across the blade. It's not going to take long and you going to have pieces missing from the miter backer board. It's amazing looking piece of machinery but man it comes at a high price. Miter Backer, I call it: http://www.bridgecitytools.com/Products/Jointmaker+Pro/JM-P+Straight+Fence Re: For anyone who's ever worked with wood or building - Filliam H. Muffman - 10-23-2009 A little overpriced. I know some guys that fell in love with Japanese saws for precise custom work about 18 years ago. There seems to be waves of popularity. Re: For anyone who's ever worked with wood or building - davester - 10-23-2009 With the Jointmaker Pro, the fear of losing digits is all but gone, Wimps! Re: For anyone who's ever worked with wood or building - Grateful11 - 10-23-2009 Bridge City Tool has always been known for super high quality high end tools, what I like to tell heirloom tools that can be handed down. I found out how well the Japanese saw design works when I bought a folding pruning saw, cuts on the pull not on the push. Re: For anyone who's ever worked with wood or building - Fritz - 10-23-2009 wow, that is perty cool! Re: For anyone who's ever worked with wood or building - lost in space - 10-23-2009 That's very cool. Limited to small stuff, though. The blade looks like it came from a Japanese dozuki saw. The good ones are incredibly sharp and, by cutting on the pull stroke, can be very accurate. I use two sizes in my shop often. I'd love to have one of these for some of the small fine work I need to do. Steep tho'! |
