i use net10, nice value as they don't charge an access fee to use their network..at&t for example charges $1 each day you make a call so simply making one call per day costs you minimum $30

I was considering switching to straighttalk, but i've read reviews about their hideous customer service as well numerous problems with number porting.

Actually, I meant online stores to purchase phones that don't need a contract. We have AT&T and my daughter's phone is about to die. I'd like to not spend much on a replacement.

Also search for "unlocked cellphone" on Ebay. Amazon has some too.

I use eBay and replace phones with the same model for very little. I'm also able to use the old peripherals. I just bought 2 of the phones we all use in my family. One to replace my daughter's dying phone and the other as a backup for the next time. Cost $26 shipped for both.

verizon will let you buy $100 in minutes good for a year. I believe any SIM card phone works.
