good luck ordering anything, I just wasted over an hour on their web site getting timeouts and page errors. Sent them a cryptic email suggesting they fix the site that is losing a lot of money right now.

Thanks! The shopping cart function seems to be broken right now, but I'll keep trying. Cheers!

This part of their EULA is funny:

VMware audits this data to insure that academic purchases are only made by eligible participants. If VMware determines that you were not eligible to purchase from the VMware Academic Store, you authorize VMware to charge your credit card or Paypal account for the difference in price between the public retail price of the same product (published on vmware.com) and the price you paid on the date you placed the order.

Seems to be working now. Made it all the way to the paypal authorization.

Eligibility? It looks like you could be the parent of a child attending school. Are they really going to go through the school records to find out if your child attend?

I have two kids in school. I should be eligible.

24 hour waiting list for my "upgrade" serial from 2.0 to 3.0 that I pre-ordered just so I would have it today.

Shopping cart STILL boken...

It's been broken for the past six hours. You would think those idiots would have figured it out by now.
There phone tree is infuriating also. No matter what you press you end up back at the beginning.

That's basically the same wording M$ uses regarding the $30 student pricing of Win7...

"Microsoft or an appointed vendor may contact you to verify that you are a current student. If documentation is not provided indicating that you are a current student, you will be liable to reimburse Microsoft for the difference between what you paid and the estimated retail price of the software."

The difference is, and what's key for me, is VMWare is saying they'll just run your card.
