Have I ever heard of Barclay James Harvest? - voodoopenguin - 11-02-2009 ...asked number one daughter in an email the other day. I really thought we had brought them up properly and was sure that at least one track was on our many car tapes I made for the long journeys when they were kids. It appears they will be playing (two original members) locally so tomorrow I will be going with her. This incarnation is called John Lee's Barclay James Harvest and as long as they play Mocking Bird I will be very happy, it will be 38 years since I last saw them live. Claire Hamill is supporting. Out of interest I did a search on this forum and BJH have only ever been mentioned once before and that was by me over a year ago. I am always amazed when people talk about an old band and I have never heard of them and they look at me like I have green horns growing out of my head (I do know Fairport Convention). Lately I found "Deep Tracks" on Sirius and have heard bands I never knew. There was a newer '80's band coming to town that friends were going to see called Erasure and I said, "Who?" My friend then dug out a dust covered CD saying, "When you hear this you'll remember." Never heard of a single song played from that disc... I wasn't much into the crap during the Disco period and the pop stuff from the '80's but when there's stuff from the '60's I don't recognize, well, I fall back on Robin Williams' favorite saying. |
