OT: Bleah. My turn with this virus - cbelt3 - 11-02-2009

My youngest is stable- he's slept for 12 hours with a temperature lower than 100. so no more spikes to 105.5. Now my daughter started- nausea, etc. I chased her off to bed. And my wife has a mild temperature, but she's smart enough to stay in bed.

And I just took my temp. Damn. 100. me next !!!

This is one nasty lil bug- two or so days to get going, two days of big bad symptoms, at perhaps two days to recover.

At least it's not going after my lungs, or I'd be for the Hospital in short order.

meh.

No fun indeed. My mistake was taking fever reducers and that prolonged the amount of time I was sick. Only take them if directed by a doctor, the doc said. Otherwise let your system do its thing.

Well, our doc said to cycle the antipyretics for the youngest because his temp was so high. Fever is okay IF your system can handle it, and if it's not too damn high.

Agreed. They told me they didn't want me to take anything unless my temp was over 105 for more than 5 hours. I had been told 104 was the threshold for me years ago. If it had gone over that I would have called around to get more opinions. Mine capped at around 103.

I had worked extremely long days for two weeks, then at an event with more extreme hours for another week. Then a few thousand people at the event got h1n1 and my immune system was too worn down. Fortunately my wife's and my 5mo old's immune systems held up just fine.

it's a bitch, Monster Daughter was a lump of flesh on the couch for seven days straight, however she has a compromised immune system. I very rarely get sick, and all I got was a sore throat for a day, and a good cough for the rest of the week due to nasal drainage, I did notice that drinking before I went to bed really helped with that drainage and I wasn't so stuffy when I woke up.
Now it's Monster Wife's turn, she stayed home today, I think Monster Son takes after me, he had the sore throat and cough, and we both were generally fatigued last week.

wishing mild cases for anyone else out there that may get it.

Little Poochie and I were home from school/work last week with it. Our fevers lasted 3 days, but the illness hung around for a week or so.

so far this year, I had the 24 flu three weeks ago, and late last week I caught a cold.

At least the I felt better after the flu in a day, this cold is kicking my butt...

Hope everyone feels better....

I drink pretty much the whole day long and I feel great.

I think we're onto something...
