So if one app goes down, the whole suite goes belly up?

They do this when i quit them all. I hit Cmd+Tab than go through and hit the "Q" key to quit them as I go down the list. Mostly when i have to reboot. After I tell them all to quit, they all hang up. Usually Parallels does too. They eventually unfreeze, I just happened to notice them all today in the force quit dialog.

CS3, safari and suitcase do the same thing for me -- just force quit Suitcase and close all the windows in the adobe apps and safari, then force quit them as well

if i were to restart without that -- it would take 20 minutes to shut down -- and i would get "shut down stopped cause blah, blah, blah stopped responding"

annoying...

Any of my apps will do that. I get the message about the app not quitting, but when I look in the dock, the little white dot is gone.
Then the mini won't shut down unless I hold down the power button.

Takes a long time for me too. They will quit eventually. I think it's related to fonts so quitting Suitcase (or FontExplorer X in my case) first and it seems like the other apps will quit faster. Even though I have "Deactivate all fonts on quit . . . " checked in FEX, it still doesn't consistently deactivate them, especially if I restart the computer without first quitting the program. If I don't keep an eye on it, I can wind up with a lot of active fonts which can slow my computer down quite a bit. And friends who still use Suitcase say it's still as buggy as ever. Why, oh why, didn't Adobe keep their Type Manager program going? THE best font management program I've ever used.

Hmmm...I never thought of fonts. I use Font Explorer too. I just figured it was the scratch disk space that was being cleared or something b/c when i try to quit the adobe apps my hd goes crazy...until they finally quit.

run OnyX and clear your caches - see if that helps...

Suitcase has worked perfectly fine for me for years and years -- there just wasnt much else to choose from after adobe dumped ATM -- master juggler, suitcase and one other that escapes me -- font reserve?

in the end suitcase won out

i do stay away from the "auto activation" crap, i just turn on what i want when i want -- and usually leave a ton open... no problems =)
