Will the "real" Republicans allow Romney to get the nomination in 2012? - Dennis S - 11-30-2009

Since Mike "Willie Horton" Huckabee and Sarah "The Quitter" Palin look unlikely, will Romney be allowed the nomination, given that he might not go over well with the Catholics and Baptists, which the Republicans must count on.

Romney was my pick the last time around and he still is. He is a gentleman, a businessman, a family man and spouses all the core Republican beliefs in a measured tone. A figure of authority on what makes a business successful and hire more is so much lacking in the current leadership. All we have now are some repressed lefties that see for themselves a once in a life time chance to rewire the economy before they lose it.

Boy, has he got you fooled. He is slick, I will give him that. But, his forte at business was making money by taking companies apart. He still has not answered questions raised in his campaign for Senate about taking credits for locating businesses here in Mass. that included targets for job creation. Seems they never completed that requirement, and even shipped jobs out of state in the process. He will tell groups what they want to hear to get their votes, and flip to doing something different afterwards. If you like him that much, get him to come to your state, he has done enough damage here.

Romney is an ideal candidate for someone like Dakota. He's a charlatan who lived in Massachusetts moved to Utah then moved back to Mass to run for governor.

To get elected he moderated his politics and used his venture capital money to buy his way into the governorship. After one term when it became apparent he couldn't get elected again in Mass, he again altered his political positions to mollify the far right of his party in hopes of keeping his political career alive.

He's the heir apparent and believes in magic underpants.

Good choice Dakota.

Remember his borderline-insane right-wing pander speech at the convention?

I knew Mormons can have multiple wives, but I was not aware that they can marry intangibles such as beliefs.

On he surface, Romney seemed like a decent Republican candidate in the 2008 race. Moderate on social issues, which seems rare these days.

Of course, he went all fundie to pander to the evangelical base and blew any chance he had to become prez.

George W Bush ran as a moderate too. Remember "compassionate conservatism?" What we found out is there is no such thing.

Romney is the same emperor, new clothes.

Most of us REAL Republicans are not the slavering far right wing fools you kids keep making us out to be. Most of us believe that being a conservative means just that.. you conserve.

And most of us are aghast at what has happened to our party in the last 20 or so years.
