cheap way to play video on tv - lazydays - 12-01-2009
I posted last week that I was interested in an inexpensive way to play video on a tv. Today I saw just what I wanted while reading http://digg.com and I bought it. $59 and it reads from a memory card or from a usb drive. Very cool. I will post back on the quality when I get it. http://www.testfreaks.com/blog/review/ciragotv-mini-usb-media-player-ctm1000/ I'm wondering what video size and bitrate it can handle.

I saw this today, and it looks like it will also do what you are wanting, but it costs a little bit more. Gotta say, the Buy.com one, does look better.

Well you know, many newer HDTV's actually have USB ports on them and you can play media directly from that.

My hdtv's will play jpegs from memory cards but not video. That would be an awesome feature if it did though!

rgC, that unit you posted looks very nice and I think would be a better permanent addition to an AV setup. I like the fact it can playback h264 files which the one I bought cannot do.

I am very happy with a recent purchase on eBay.
It plays anything on my iPod on my TV. Cost was £2.39 including shipping from Hong Kong.

for $119 you could have gotten this WD TV Live HD box, and streamed content over your network to your TV.
