Any idea if "special coverage" building items in homeowners insurance is a good idea? - stephen - 12-02-2009

I'm buying insurance for my new second home condo. There's the standard homeowners coverage, and then "special coverage" which covers damage outside the normally listed perils. It makes the insurance cost twice as much.

Do you guys buy this stuff?

What does the "special coverage" cover?

Sounds like you've got an a la Carte insurance policy. Or an agent that is enjoying nickle and diming you to death. Shop around ?
