Experience buying from Gainsaver? - A-Polly - 12-02-2009
Just wondering if anyone here has ever bought a used Mac from Gainsaver, and if so, were you satisfied with the service and the product. I would love to be able to buy my son a "newer" laptop for Xmas, but funds are awfully tight (he's using a 12" PB with issues which are going require spending some money anyway).
Gainsaver does seem to charge extra for things like the wireless card usually included on a laptop.

Summary - purchased bad product, unable to get refund
Initial Complaint
I purchased a used G4 computer from gainsaver.com on which the CD tray did not open and the hard drive failed after only a few days of use. They authorized a return, but they offer only in-store credit, no refunds. The shipping is nearly half the cost of the original item, and I do not have faith in their merchandise, therefore it would be foolish to throw good money after bad and send the item back to them. I asked them instead for a full refund and they refused.
Resolution Sought
I would like a full refund for the item ($99) plus shipping ($33.74), for a total of $132.74

I have already stated a full explanation as to why a store credit is not an adequate remedy in this case. This company is not responding to my specific request -- so far they are showing no interest in resolving this matter to my satisfaction.
