Acapella Christmas Music - Kate - 12-02-2009 I admit I'm a sucker for harmony and acapella groups, especially in Christmas Music. So far my favorites are the the Roches (not all acapella, but the harmoiny can't be beat), Straight No Chaser, and the King's Singers. I also just downloaded a female acapella group called Aliqua. Their harmony is great. So do any of you have any suggestions for Acapella Christmas music? I'd love to find some new ones. Kate Re: Acapella Christmas Music - Kiva - 12-02-2009 i'm going to piggy-back this a bit and if people can add stuff that can be streamed in iTunes, that would be great. They had a fantastic "classic" x-mas music station last year, but it's not there now. It played 'oldies' xmas which was great... Re: Acapella Christmas Music - Kiva - 12-02-2009 ok, just found one under "ecletic" in itunes radio called "Always Christmas"..5th one in the list. It's not the same one as last year, but so far they've played sinatra and some other classic one....we'll see.. oh, the yule logs are cool: Yule Logs (though, sorry, it's not acapella...) Re: Acapella Christmas Music - Bixby - 12-02-2009 The Bobs have a fun christmas album. Also the male choir Cantus has two albums that are good. Re: Acapella Christmas Music - swf - 12-02-2009 I found Tonic Sol-fa last year; really like their contemporary style. Re: Acapella Christmas Music - jdc - 12-02-2009 CBS/AOL radio has 14 Xmas stations available via the AOL radio player or possibly on iTunes? they have "classical", "holiday classics" and "oldies holiday" Re: Acapella Christmas Music - $tevie - 12-02-2009 "You're All I Want for Christmas" by The Persuasions http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/youre-all-i-want-for-christmas/id2700995 Re: Acapella Christmas Music - clay - 12-03-2009 I sing in an all-male acappella group, so I'm partial to it... we have a Xmas concert on the 14th. Wanna come? :-) Re: Acapella Christmas Music - Kate - 12-03-2009 Can you send me a CD or MPO3 files? I'd love to hear it. Barring that, we're in Northern New Mexico, where's the concert? Kate Re: Acapella Christmas Music - Winston - 12-03-2009 We have loved "An Ivy League Christmas". It's a compilation of songs from acappella groups at several Ivy League schools. It is out of print, but I did find it listed on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/An-Ivy-League-Christmas:-Songs-of-the-Season...-:-Various-Artists-(CD,-2004)_W0QQitemZ341292804092QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20091126?IMSfp=TL091126202022r25537 If you like college acappella singing (some of which is a bit irreverent) many of the groups have Christmas/holiday albums of their own. You can track them down from their own web sites and college bookstores. Here is a directory of college acapella groups: http://www.collegiate-acappella.com/ and a partial list is on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_collegiate_a_cappella_groups Good luck. - Winston |
