Tree's up! - rgG - 12-03-2009

Since I didn't have to work today, I decided that it was a good time to get the Christmas tree up and decorated. I decided to put it in the living room this year, instead of the dining room where it normally goes. The people who drive by won't be able to see it, but we will. Now if I can just get motivated to put the outdoor lights up, too. You can't see the twinkling blue lights in the pic, but they are there, too. In case you haven't guessed, turquoise is my favorite color.

What kind of tree is that? Yule tree? Kwanza tree? Spaghetti tree? BunBun scratching and climbing tree? It's difficult to tell from here.

e) All and none of the above. We are a non-religious family that will celebrate any holiday that involves presents and/or good food. Throw in lots of sparkly things and colored lights and we are in. Big Grin

Tree probably won't go up this year because we are spending Christmas with the in-laws.

We'll leave before Christmas Eve and won't get back until after New Year's.

What's the sense in decorating?

And yes, I might have some Christmas "Bah-Humbug" going.

Some of that white crap fell out of the sky today. I was enjoying 50º+ temps. Now where in the 20's with flurries.

All this said, the tree looks nice, Rhonda.

I hear you. Since my daughter is off at college, it is just me and my husband here for most of the holidays. I could have just said, let's not do it, but my daughter would have been disappointed and this is the one time of the year that the family comes to our house for dinner on Christmas day. Now that my dad is gone and my father-in-law is gone, just last month, the gathering is pretty small. I will be just my mom, mom-in-law, maybe sister-in-law, daughter, husband, and me. I used to put up tons of decorations, lights, several trees, the whole nine yards, but this year it will be one tree and hopefully a few lights on the big holly just beside the door.

The holidays seem to lose a little sparkle as the kids get older. I am grateful that I do not have to shop for toys anymore.
