Sure, right after I buy three drives...

They look nice!

i just wish they were $50 cheaper.

2.5" crappy USB 2 case is $10, good USB 2 case is $20 and a good FW400 case is $35. But a FW800 case is $100...?

It's not as much the case as it is the the bridge board.

And as far as bridge boards go, you get what you pay for!

Amen to that. It's why I always go to OWC for this equipment, and always recommend it. Jamie is a sadist when it comes to testing drives and their appurtenances, so if they're selling it, I know what kind of ringer it's been put through.

This is also the only case I know of that has two FW800 ports and separate eSATA and USB ports, and I'm assuming it'll fit 12.5mm drives (since it is pre-packaged with 750GB drives).

Even Wiebetech's case uses a combo eSATA/USB port which means you have to use a non-standard A-A USB cable if you need to use USB.

At 1.1" in height, it had better fit the 12.5mm drives. That's pretty gosh darned tall for a 2.5" drive case.

My current portable drive is a Rocstor 9cx that's about 0.5" tall. Doesn't have an eSATA port, but I like that it has both a FW400 and FW800 port in addition to a standard mini USB port.

I think they are expensive too. But it's nice that there is some competition for G-Drive minis. I never have liked the clear OWC portable drives.

Good luck.

I semi understand its the bridge board... and although my 2.5" WD 400 gig FW800 portable drive only has one FW800 port, I only paid $99 for the whole dang thing...

and I have never cared for the clear cases either, they have had them for at least 10 years?

and fwiw, I have a few of the 3.5" AL IDE FW800 cases, the construction is stellar.
