What's up with Flash on Amazon site - Anybody using ClickToFlash - thermarest - 12-04-2009
I've been using the Safari plugin ClickToFlash. It blocks Flash objects and displays a grey box that says "flash" and you click on it to load the content if you want to see it.
As of recently, I'm noticing large translucent "flash" boxes covering a broad portion of the screen on Amazon. Clicking on them makes them go away but shows no content. On most sites the blocked flash is opaque, as shown in this NY Times screenshot. Is Amazon using the Flash objects to keep track of something? Or....? I'm just curious.
Edit: I guess its not that its usually opaque as I said above, but that usually there is nothing behind a flash object, but on Amazon there is.

Yes, that’s something new. Wasn’t there yesterday. Perhaps some new “feature” that hasn’t been fully implemented yet.

Could be a tracking bug.
Could be part of an ad that expands and shows content, but since the controlling swf is not active, it does nothing.
