I'm looking for a notch above IKEA, but I find Room & Board and the like a bit too expensive.

Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, outlet stores and retail.

Lot of furniture stores have sales this time of year, floor models.

Frames on Craigslist.

I myself am looking for a sofa bed. I wouldn't buy a bed at Target nor Kmart/Sears nor even IKEA. Avoiding the back pain is worthy of spending a bit more. I would try JCPENNY and the furniture outlets.

Plummer's and Scandinavian Designs.

I've had a household of Plummer's for 25 years. Great.
