Netflix Blu-Ray prices - space-time - 12-06-2009

I have Netflix 3 at a time, $17/month, and if I want to add blu ray, there is an additional $4. What is not clear to me from their web pages is if you can roll back to regular DVDs at any time, in other words if you can turn ON and OFF blu ray as you wish. I am thinking of maybe activating blu ray several times per year, but not the whole year

Also, if I downgrade to 1 DVD at a time, and I want to add blu ray, is it still $4 or is it less?

If you have the Blu-ray option you can order Blu-ray and standard DVD's on that plan. Be sure that you have a Blu-ray player to be able to play the disks and a 1080 TV to take advantage of the higher rez output.

If you have BluRay service, then you look at your DVD queue there will be a selection on the right to get regular DVD or BluRay.

I guess I didn't ask the question right. I know you can get a movie on BluRay or DVD. but I don't always want to pay the extra fee. maybe I want to activa BluRay (and pay more) around christmas time, but for the rest of the year regular DVD will do just fine and I can save those 4 bucks.

Also, is if 4 bucks for all plans, from 1 to 8 at a time???

I'm not a member of either NetFlix or Blockbuster Mail Plan but I did notice that Blockbuster
doesn't charge extra for Blu-Ray, $17 for 3 at time. I thought about joining one of these but
I just tacked on HBO because they added on 5 more HD channels.

The Blu-Ray price varies from $1 to $5 depending on the base monthly plan ($2 for 1 at a time unlimited). Though I can't confirm it, I don't see a problem with going back and forth from the Blu-Ray add-on to no Blu-Ray (since you can change base plans and Blu-Ray add-on all online). But you probably have to send all your Blu-Ray's back within a week of de-activating it or they may continue to charge you.

Yes, you can switch your netflix plan periodically. Your current period charges will be pro-rated and then you'll pay the full charge (assuming you've upped your service) the next period. If you reduce your service I don't think you save any money (i.e. they only pro-rate on an increase not a reduction.)

But I could be wrong, I don't remember what happened when I cut down from 3 at a time to 1 at a time plus BluRay a few months back. I did just up to 3 at a time again, without BluRay.
