I have massive respect for luge and skeleton athletes, they have nerves of steel. I wonder though, how exactly does one know they have any potential in that sport? Did someone look at them and say, "Hey kid your jump shot stinks but I bet you would be great going down an icy track in a skin tight suit with a helmet on at 90mph".

I don't think there is much of a line for tryouts. You probably just show up and whoever doesn't die in the first week is probably world class.

where did you grow up?? kids are born trying to do this stuff. all it takes is a bit of snow and an object that vaguely resembles a sled.

If you survive the first trial run then you're eligible for the Olympic team.

the stupidity of youth...

any of those "athletes" over 30? 35? 40?

fun stuff to watch, because at some point, the body is simply no longer capable of competing at anywhere near those levels... on the flip side (of the mind), compare the 90mph lugers' age w/ the age of Nobel winning scientists... for some things, age and sensibility do matter... how many Nobel winning scientists are former Olympic lugers?

There won't be any 'winter', so it'll have to be something in a desert.
