Naming Airport Extreme and Express - Ironhorse - 02-20-2010 I have a white flying saucer AE and a Airport Express base that i can't rename. I have them renamed in everything except the fan signal in the menu bar. Both say apple network with numbers and letters. Thanks for any help Dennis Re: Naming Airport Extreme and Express - C(-)ris - 02-20-2010 That is the network name. It is one of the first config screens you see in the airport setup. Re: Naming Airport Extreme and Express - Ironhorse - 02-20-2010 airport setup or airport utility? In airport utility the names are correct. Re: Naming Airport Extreme and Express - Ironhorse - 02-20-2010 I got it, was so simple and I feel so stupid. Guess I got in a hurry. Dennis Re: Naming Airport Extreme and Express - C(-)ris - 02-20-2010 Airport Utility. Not the basestation name, the network name. 2 entirely different things. Re: Naming Airport Extreme and Express - Ironhorse - 02-20-2010 Thanks Cris it was your response that triggered my actions to get it right. Thanks Re: Naming Airport Extreme and Express - GuyGene - 02-20-2010 Good post Iron; I think this is confusing to many people, and maybe this will help clear it up. Like C(-)ris said, one is base station name, the other the network name. I have my network name hidden so that it has to be typed in exactly as I have it in order for it to even show as a possible wifi network. Then, the network is password protected. |
