The one featured in the photo looks nice.

The one in the photo (TL500) does look interesting. Slimmer than Canon's G11 with a faster lens and larger flip-out screen. Though it lacks the G11's direct access dials for some features and the viewfinder. If I didn't already own a G11, I'd probably be buying a TL500 (I might even be tempted to switch after the reviews come in).

No viewfinder. Make sure your eyes are comfortable switching from picture distance to the LCD screen. Bifocals can make this awkward.

Some people have trouble composing a picture on a 3-inch screen, though camera designers think we're all supposed to be able to do it.

EDIT: nevermind, $450 according to endgaget

I personally think the likes of Samsung and Sony should stick to making TVs and DVD players. You'll never catch me behind their logo and paying that kind of money.

Yeah, because the name means "so much."

It was only a few years ago that Samsung didn't make TVs, microwaves, refrigerators, washing machines. But no one should consider buying one, because those aren't Samsung's original lines of manufacture. Companies shouldn't mess around with entering new markets.

And you're a camera person—you should know that Sony bought the imaging division from Konica/Minolta. The first Sony DSLRs were based heavily on the last Minolta DSLRs. Sony now has all of that know-how.

Weeeeeeell a bit more than a few years ago.
I bought my first samsung tv at "Ayr-Way" in Muncie, now out of business, and that would have been like 1982 or so.

28 years is a pretty long time. Smile

Maybe Richard Warren "Sears" should have stuck to selling watches and the like or maybe John Deere
should of stuck to making turning plows instead of getting into tractors, look how big a failure that was, ROTFLMAO!

My Pentax K20D has a CMOS sensor made by Samsung that does pretty well!
