Web site that compares private health insurance plans? - Black - 02-22-2010

I need to research private health insurance for a patient that wants to buy it (some complicated story about not being able to continue with state support because his wife won't sign some sort of papers.)
Needs to cover therapy for issues relating to past motorcycle accident.
I think he's dreaming but maybe I'm wrong.

Any info or resources appreciated.

Hmmm . . .
took a look at one of the first that came uo, Blue Choice PPO at $183 a month, and I don't see the pre-existing conditions thing mentioned in the exclusions:

What planet have you been living on? He's probably going to have a heck of a time finding someone who will write insurance on him. My wife left her job and while coasting on Cobra ran into noninsurability time and time again. The reason?...."broken wrist within past five year period". She finally got (insanely expensive) coverage under the state high risk pool. For the rest of the family we pay the Family Plan full rate because it is cheaper than individual plans, but it doesn't include her. Talk about highway robbery. After the five year period was up she reapplied for regular coverage and was told that once you're in the high risk pool nobody will insure you under a regular plan again. We are screwed, over and over again.

The pre-existing conditions thing appears after you apply. They say "You have a pre-existing condition...therefore we won't cover you. Have a nice day".

Insurance is regulated by state laws. I'm not up on Illinois so I can't say, but the situation in another state, California for example, doesn't apply to Illinois.

And yes, the insurance shopping web sites are probably less interested in those little details that will raise your rates or knock you out of coverage completely.
