Viewing F1 races in the USA - voodoopenguin - 03-03-2010 On a small F1 group I frequent someone has asked about viewing Formula One races in the USA. I will just copy and paste his query: Question for those of you stateside: Do you know of any websites that stream the races live? I cut back my cable subscription to just basic cable and to my horror I no longer have the SPEED channel. ![]() Before I go back and give the monopolistic bastards my hard earned money, just so I can receive one decent channel and over a hundred channels of crap, I want to make sure I've chased down all other possible options. In the past, when SPEED does not have the races live, I've tried justin.tv but the quality of the feeds, if you can find one, are pretty poor. Does anyone else have any experience with this they would be willing to share? To those of you not in the states, we are unable to use red button or other such sites as they track the origin of your IP address and block access (the same reason I can't use BBC iPlayer) - I am willing to give any and all suggestions a shot though as I only have a week or so before the season starts. I'm trying to find some open proxy servers that will allow me to get around this restriction. I looked into the proxy server thing last year and as far as I remember it seems that it would slow things down so much that video would be unwatchable. So what are the options on TV or is there a website that does allow live viewing without jumping through hoops? Thanks Paul Re: Viewing F1 races in the USA - TheTominator - 03-03-2010 F1? Did somebody say F1? Microsoft Says, Don't Press the F1 Key In XP Re: Viewing F1 races in the USA - Go To Top - 03-03-2010 Try an F1 Forum. Good streaming is very expensive. $20 each. Google has 6 million entries. I am a fan so I get SpeedTV. I like Indy Car too on VersusTV. I watch GrandAm and ALMS on whatever. I have no life. Right? Go to a bar. An MB dealer? Re: Viewing F1 races in the USA - motopsyco - 03-03-2010 Hell, what about quality MotoGP coverage? I don't trust vehicles that need two additional wheels to stay upright. Cheers! Re: Viewing F1 races in the USA - space-time - 03-03-2010 2 years ago FOX was broadcasting F1 live. I don't know whether they still do. http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1,521860 Re: Viewing F1 races in the USA - Ken Sp. - 03-03-2010 On a side-sad note. It appears that the USF1 team is no longer...maybe next year, but doubtful. Re: Viewing F1 races in the USA - Filliam H. Muffman - 03-03-2010 FOX typically only shows two or three races out of the 19 race season, and they rarely seem to advertise it. It just pops up on the local TV listings from time to time. Usually Monaco and Canada. Without any cable service, the cheapest way to get SPEED Channel is by one of the satellite services, about $46 for a 100 or 150 channel package plus about $8 in fees and local taxes (they NEVER tell you what the actual final price will be before hand unless you really press the issue). Scumcast usually requires you have to upgrade at least two tiers of service over basic cable to get the SPEED channel. A total bill of $60 to $80 depending on the location. I used to be able to get SPEED for free because my VCR had a really sensitive tuner and could pick it up on (IIRC) channel 33 when the filter was supposed to remove anything above channel 32. The other alternative was to go to the local British themed bar and nurse a beer or three for the entire race. :drink: Re: Viewing F1 races in the USA - chopper - 03-03-2010 MotoGP--you have to go to the bastards at Dorna--motogp.com. |
