Yeah, I met some Americans who taught English when I was stationed in Korea. Their stories were mixed about the experience, especially with respect to their relationships with their employers. In Korea for example, you're expected to go out drinking with the boss every night. Koreans are very heavy drinkers. The salaries were OK. Some people go to foreign countries and tutor people privately without the proper visa. Don't do that. Make sure you go to a foreign country with your paperwork in order.

my sister taught english in korea. the salary is decent but not outrageous. the economic problems certainly didn't send it up.

yeah, ditto on the Korea thing. A friend of my daughter's lived in Korea for a year working as an English teacher. She's back in the states making more money....
