Aw, cr@p! Hard drive failure! - vicrock - 04-12-2010 My office iMac (intel core duo) has had a hard drive failure - I never noticed, since I have a full clone backup (superduper) that happens automatically every night. Hard drive does not show up at all - I will bring in my Snow Leopard disk from home tomorrow and see what I can see what booting from it and into disk utility shows. I have disk warrior, and can try that as well (disk also at home). Assuming all this fails, how hard is it to crack one of these open and install a new drive? I am moderately handy with this sort of thing. Re: Aw, cr@p! Hard drive failure! - Ken Sp. - 04-12-2010 Not too bad if you are handy. Re: Aw, cr@p! Hard drive failure! - Black - 04-12-2010 I've been into my 2006 iMac three times. The first time will be the hardest as there's tons of adhesive foil to peel back and you're going to hate doing it. Re: Aw, cr@p! I did not notice the absence of the internal - it probably happened several days ago. Re: Aw, cr@p! Hard drive failure! - Black - 04-12-2010 OK, got it. Good luck . . . the latches have always been the hardest part for me. |
