SOS: InDesign CS4 - Turn off text wrap? - Zoidberg - 04-13-2010

First I'll start by saying I know how to turn off text wrap once a continual text box has been established. But for whatever reason, every time I click the continue/thread arrow on a text box, and then go to create the next text box, it insists on setting the next box with a "warning track" around it (i.e. a text wrap zone).

I've checked my dummies book, online, everywhere I can think. Every search tells me how to set up text wrap, but none I can find tells me how to turn it *off* by default.

I'm working on a 100+ page document and this is adding a lot of work time today that I don't have; any help'd be appreciated.

Try this. With no object selected in your document, open up the Text Wrap panel. Click on the icon on the top far left, which represents "no text wrap". Close the panel. From now on, when you create a new object (text frame, etc.), it will have no text wrap. If you want text wrap on all objects, select one of the text wrap varieties in the Text Wrap panel with no objects selected.

Let me know if this is clear and if this works.

laarree -- thanks! that seems to have done the trick; figured it would be something simple I was railroading right past.

You're welcome. :-)
