Favorite =simple= html editor - Black - 04-15-2010

A friend is still using Pagemill 1.0 to update her web pages; not gonna fly on a new mac with SL.
I'm going to need to do a lot of hand holding to help her learn a new web app-- looking for a few recommendations from folks who maintain their own basic websites. I downloaded Seamonkey and it seemed to work but wanted to see if there's something people like more.

Thx . . .

I like TextEdit for that.

Your friend will probably adore iWeb, which will come with her Mac.

No problem using it without a MobileMe account.

I use Taco HTML (not free) for basic code editing, and Nvu (free from Mozilla) for WSIWYG-type layout work. Both work in Sno Leo 64-bit.

I second iWeb---the learning curve is so easy.

nvu is another option

I also use Taco, but it looks like I have not upgraded in a few years, as mine is still freeware. I have various other programs from various bundles that I have bought- but for what I need, Taco is great. And I already know how to use it, which is a clear advantage.

Nvu, Kompozer, and Seamonkey seem to be very similar. I've used all three interchangeably. I am a reluctant refugee from PageMill, and the Kompozer-type programs are the only free things I have found that come close to PageMill.
