for some reason my AIO Canon MF4320 and Image Capture are no longer seeing eye to eye.
It'll scan the 1st page with the ADF then stop half way and go no further, with no image in Preview.
When I force quit IC and toss the prefs and restart the app, IC doesn't see the MF, unless I restart the Mac.
I tired VueScan today, and it finally works with the ADF, although at a crawl, 1 page/minute.
It won't save (even the "watermarked" Save). It also take a minute or so to start up.
I just tossed VueScan thinking that maybe it was taking the resources IC needed.
I even tried SANE TWAIN, but that seems to do nothing for me ........ so far.
Anyone else had this fun?
Scanning is still so incredibly primitive with Mac. The manufacturers suck and IC is no winner nuther.

guess Image Capture doesn't like sharing with VueScan.

Disconnect all USB devices except for the mouse, keyboard and printer. Restart. Try scanning again.
If that doesn't work, try logging in under a different user account and see if it works.

nope. it was just that IC and VueScan do not get along for some reason.
Worked fine after I deleted VueScan.
