iPad 30 MB PDF limit question - guitarist - 05-30-2010 I downloaded a free book in PDF format, imported to my iPad. iPad won't view it (either natively or with a third party PDF reader app) because it's 31.5 MB. A message window appears saying the iPad's limit is 30 MB. Does anyone know a quick and easy way to squeeze a couple MBs of size from a PDF, to make it compatible with this requirement? Re: iPad 30 MB PDF limit question - freeradical - 05-30-2010 http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/mac/16233 Re: iPad 30 MB PDF limit question - Kramerica - 05-30-2010 Acrobat Pro can also optimize if you have it. It might be easier to split it with Preview, and save out 2 parts. That's the first I've heard about the PDF size limit with the iPad. Re: iPad 30 MB PDF limit question - guitarist - 05-31-2010 I downloaded freeradical's suggested, from the link provided. I'll report back, thanks. Yeah, I didn't know about that limit, either. It wasn't welcome news. But it was notable and funny, that the book I wanted to view, is only a teeny fraction bigger than the limit. What's with the 30 MB limit? Sheesh Re: iPad 30 MB PDF limit question - Speedy - 05-31-2010 Stupid artificial limit. Designed to keep everyman from making and using PDFs. Re: iPad 30 MB PDF limit question - guitarist - 05-31-2010 It's a silly format for a book to be in the first place, considering the more desirable alternatives. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had any use whatsoever for PDFs. I realize my experience may not be representative, but I'm sure there's lots more like me than unlike me. |
