iPad + PDF
#11
OK, here is what we did:

she was visiting our place, thus her XP Laptop was not available to try to sync.

I logged on to her school from my PBook and and downloaded the said PDF on my PBook. Then I email it to her gmail account. Once there, We could read it from Mail, and there was the option "Read In" (or something like that). Then the options were iBooks and FreePDF (?) and we chose iBooks and all is great... but I wish there was a simple way to do this (download a PDF from the web) directly on the iPad without a Desktop/Laptop. This damn PDF was online in a "frame" with more menus on the right hand side and some other buttons on the top frame.

and many thanks for your input too. Here is what the page looks like; I scrolled to an "empty" place in the PDF since I think the material might be copy-righted:

To get it into iBooks from whatever computer your iPad is Sync'd with, just drag the PDF to your iTunes
Library on the left hand column of iTunes and it will automatically be put in the right spot. Sync the iPad
with the computer. When you open up iBooks, there a small box that says Books / PDF's, just choose
PDF's and it should be sitting there on your bookshelf.

yeah, but she would like to use her husband's XP Laptop as rarely as possible. She's using the iPad as her main machine. It would be nice if you could download a PDF from a multipla-FRAME web page (see above) directly to iBooks, just like you could when the PDF is the only frame on a web page.

I'll put in a third plug for GoodReader. I have sprung for both the iPhone and iPad versions. The ability to enter a URL and have the pdf download to your device is very nice. Very handy when traveling since you do not need to be linked to computer.
