Good deal, you're going to love it. Don't know if you're running PT LE or HD. If you're running LE you will be pleasantly surprised how many tracks and plug-ins you can run. You'll wonder why you waited so long. PT 8.04 and Snow Leopard run beautifully together.

how many PCI cards are you putting in it?

That's the same base model I have at work, very speedy, especially for mutli-core rendering tasks. Much easier to upgrade than an iMac as well.

Not sure yet but I'm thinking about the new Pro Tools Native system and a UAD-2. I'll be using my 2 Dell 2408WFP with it.

Nice! The quad 2.66 looks tempting to, although Expercom had it for about $50 less. At least the octo core you're getting comes with enough RAM to get out of its own way.
