I wonder if it works in the G5 towers.
Apple has a messed up implementation of the SATA Controller chip.

How so? I know that a few SATA II drives don't work but i suspect that there are as many problems on the pc side with SATA I cards.

Or am I making things up?

(fwiw) There are ways of making things work in a G5 other than relying on the SATA controller that came with the machine. I mention this as the 500GB drive I bought recently (which was rumored to be bound for trouble) is humming along fine thanks to my Firmtek/Seritek controller.

Looks perfect for video, as in MythTV or the upcoming ReplayTV software solution.

HDTV takes gobs of space, so now that problem is solved.

I just picked up a couple of the 320GB drives in this same series (7200.10) - 600GB (formatted) for less than $250. OWC has the 750GB (680GB formatted) drives for about twice that right now...

Better yet, find one of those 160GB for $50AR deals that pop up so often, and you'll get 1.5TB formatted for about the same price! ...and TEN drives.

My point being, the extra cost per GB of a huge drive is worth it to some users.

Exactly.

Well done, jimbrady.
