CUBE ! It Lives ! Wow. This is weirdly cool.

So I've been busy with work and stress and illness, and this little Cube (and Apple Studio Display) have been sitting in my closet in their original boxes, delivered by it's previous owner, my wonderful sister. (Sshhh... dont tell Cubie.. he was replaced by his great-grandson, a mini).

And so my 12 year old son (Ok, and his Dog, Pixie) cleared the crap off my desk (into a bag of junk), and set it all up. Even ran a Cat 5 cable to it from the router.

It's so weird using OS9 and Internet Exploder 5 again. Wow. The little round speaker gizmos have a nice sound.

Dragged out some of the old software CD's for the heck of it. I'll have to put more RAM into it before I put Tiger on it tho.

Perhaps fit a mico-ATX gigabyte motherboard and a reasonable video card and voila! i5 cube! ;-)

Now, I would really use an i5 Cube. That would be sweet... :patriot:

nah, doing the whole mod thing would just, I dunno, violate the whole Stevenesss of it. It's a very Zen computer. If the hard drive and/or fan would just stop whining at me..... I miss the silence of fanless computers like my SE/30. too much noise oppresses the mind.

Steve is the one who overpriced it (TOTALLY) to begin with. With an i5 or an i7 it would be worth the knock down price they had to come out with . . . way back when!

I remember reading an interview where he said as much. I got my Cube when they dropped it from $1799 to $1299.

Still have it.

Ah, you got one with a fan on the video card?
