Do we have any forum members in Japan in need of help?
#11
I haven't either, but I've heard of it. It think that you need to get it fresh out of the sea, because it goes bad quickly or something. Lots of fishing villages were wiped out in Tokoku, so I'm wondering if our fish supply will be affected. (Selfish musings in the midst of tragedy.)

There are a variety of seemingly good organizations. Japan Red Cross was on site within a few hours, which impressed me. Plus, they seem to be one of the most organized groups. I've been recommending them to people in the States. We are collecting some funds here through our church to be sent to some churches in the quake zone that are up and running to the point that they can actually help others. If people wanted to be involved in that project in particular, we have a mission organization in the US that can receive funds and give tax statements. 100% of money given for earthquake relief to that organization will be sent to those local churches in the earthquake area. People could PM me for those details.

Are Japan Red Cross and the American Red Cross just different branches of the same organization? Or totally separate?

It seems that there is an international Red Cross organization. Japan and American groups are part of that.
