I don't have time to read it right now, but I do have to remark that the caricature, while beautifully executed, doesn't look like Issa judging by photos of the man.

That's nice. We only want lily-white perfect Stepford Politicians.. right ?
I'm more interested in what they do NOW.

I never said we want perfect people in charge. Just making note that this guy is a truly an upstanding person (accusations of carjacking and arson are not light charges, to me at least).
BTW, what he is doing stinks of nothing but partisan politics. The GOP has preached spending less and having a smaller government, yet spending hundreds of thousands or (probably) millions and creating an outfit to go after the president is perfectly fine (a la Ken Starr), right?

Don't you know the rules? Democrats history is fair game, Republican history (only the bad news) is off limits.
I think that his history is important and shows a pattern who he really is. No surprise that he is thought of by some to be the future of the GOP.

Past performance is an indicator. However, I assumed the people that elected him were aware of his criminal past. The Cali papers sure seemed to report about it during elections.
Is he representing them in accordance with their wishes ? Are they happy with him ? I don't know. He got re-elected, so I guess so. My own personal "I don't like this guy" congresscritter, Dennis Kucinich, bankrupted the city of Cleveland and effectively destroyed its future for all time. And he goes around campaigning for fiscal oversight and peace and love and aliens are our friends. And his electorate, which consists of a chunk of the city of Cleveland, keeps re-electing him. Go figure.

This elevated role allows him to influence much more than the interests of his district, and makes him subject to the judgment of many voters who may have no inkling of his tainted history.

Mr. Kucinich is doing something right:
