WILLY!!

During my travels a few weeks ago I came upon a small brewery in the heart of Amsterdam. I bought a small collection to try when I got home and this is the first.
Willy is a quadrupel weighing in at 11.5%. I had not tasted this one before and as soon as I opened the bottle I thought it would be good, the smell was quite powerful and full of spice and malt. The beer is quite dark and the head seemed to be thick but disappeared quickly. Full of flavour and very pleasant although I'm not a connoisseur of quads. I will certainly buy a few more on my next visit.
Still to come in the collection are Heintje, Johnny and Andre.
Bottoms up!
Paul

11.5 ABV qualifies it as a barley wine, yes?
too high in alcohol for me to drink; I prefer to take larger swigs, even if they're not very big compared to typical guzzling standards. Some IPAs I drink are around 7% but I find that the limit before the alcohol takes over the palate.

Looks yummy !
I currently have 5 different IPA's in the house. I'm afraid I overstocked a bit with the hurricane and all,
especially since I'm 500+ miles inland ... but why take a chance .... be prepared !
