A look at Windows 8 screen shots

I usually don't get involved with this sort of thing, but damn, this is ugly.

Windows 8 is going to make me a TON of money ... for me to train all of my clients who want to learn how to use this OS.

Thanks Microsoft!

I think it looks ok.

I spent an hour test driving the Sony and HP Touchscreen PCs at the microsoft store. 24" multitouch screens.

Windows 7 was pretty worthless. My website that has some touch screen design plans in it was ok via Explorer.

But it does not look like a good platform for composing.

Looks like M$ has abandoned what's left of the desktop metaphor in favor of making their OS look just like a website. Which is OK, as I never understood their desktop anyway, where you couldn't even see your drives without opening "My Computer" (and even that icon disappeared at some point).

For those that are uninformed and jump to conclusions, the screenshots you are looking at are the 'Metro View'...which is geared towards tablets/phones/touch screens and various devices.

Windows 8 also retains the normal/classic 'Desktop View' which is "Windows 7-ish" and what 98% of the world will be using, especially in enterprise/government, and you can toggle between the two, depending on your preference with the computing device you are using.

FYI

Ok. So "Metro" is just a view option. Which means the real Windows is still there...underneath. So that means you'll need a tablet that will have the minimum system requirements for Windows 8...which is a desktop OS...but for a tablet?
